RSVP

When is the deadline to RSVP?

Please submit your response by October 24.

Ceremony & Reception

What time should I arrive for the ceremony?

The ceremony will begin promptly at 5:00 pm. Please arrive to the chapel by 4:45 pm to ensure you are seated before the processional starts.

How far is the reception hall from the ceremony?

Both the chapel and the reception hall are on the same property—just a short walk across the parking lot separates the two.

Will the celebration be indoors or outdoors?

Every part of our celebration will unfold in the comfort of Aberdeen Manor’s indoor spaces.

Will this be a traditional military ceremony?

We are deeply honored by our connection to the military, but we’ve chosen to celebrate this occasion as a civilian event. The ceremony and reception will follow civilian traditions, so please simply join us in semi-formal attire and enjoy the day together.

What type of music will be played?

Get ready to dance all night! We’ll kick things off with Felix and Fingers—a high-energy, request-driven dueling-piano duo from Chicago that keeps the floor buzzing. To close out the celebration, a DJ will take over for the final half-hour, spinning the signature tracks that shine best in their original recordings and sending us off on the perfect note.

Dress Code & Comfort

What is the dress code?

Ladies, please opt for a nice cocktail dress or an elegant, dressy jumpsuit. Gentlemen, a suit or jacket paired with coordinating trousers and a tie is encouraged; a sport coat and tie are also acceptable alternatives. Choose dress shoes you can comfortably dance in, and kindly avoid casual wear such as jeans, shorts, or sneakers.

What’s the weather typically like this time of year?

November weather in Northern Indiana is unpredictable. Please bring a light coat or shawl for the short walk from the parking lot to the venue. Heavy outerwear or umbrellas are unnecessary, as all events will be indoors.

Travel & Lodging

Which hotel do you recommend, and is there a room block?

We recommend the Best Western University Inn in Valparaiso, where a block of rooms has been reserved for our guests. To book at the group rate, please use the link found under the “Travel” tab at the top of this page.

Do I have to book a two-night stay at the hotel?

No. Although the group-rate link is pre-filled for two nights, you are welcome to adjust your reservation to a single night (or any dates that suit you) before completing the booking. The group rate still applies as long as your stay falls within our room-block dates.

What times will the shuttle be running?

The shuttle will depart the Best Western University Inn at 3:45 pm, 4:15 pm, and 4:30 pm, with return trips from the reception hall at 11:00 pm, 11:30 pm, and midnight.

Where should I park if I’m driving?

Ample on-site parking is available at the venue.

What’s the nearest airport, and how far is it from the venue?

Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW) is about 50–55 miles west of Aberdeen Manor, roughly a 1-hour drive. South Bend International Airport (SBN) is about 48 miles east, also just over an hour by car. Both airports offer numerous flight options and convenient rental-car service. If you come through Chicago O’Hare (ORD), plan on a 75- to 90-minute drive.

Food & Drink

Will there be an open bar?

Absolutely! Our full open bar begins right after the ceremony during the cocktail hour, pauses while we’re seated for dinner, and then reopens for the rest of the evening. We’ll also raise a champagne toast once dinner is finished.

I have dietary restrictions—whom should I contact?

Please provide this information when you complete the RSVP form. If you forget, you can return to the form before the RSVP deadline, search for your name, and update your details.

What kind of dinner service can we expect (plated, buffet, stations)?

Dinner will be presented as a formal plated service, with each course served directly to your table for a comfortable, conversational dining experience.

Will hors d’oeuvres be served during cocktail hour?

Yes—light hors d’oeuvres will be passed during the cocktail hour.

Registry & Gifting

Is a gift required?

Absolutely not—your presence is the only gift we need.

Where are you registered, and how do we find the registry?

You can view our registry by clicking the “Registry” tab above. There you will see our selected items, along with links at the bottom of the page to a few specialty stores.

Are group gifts or cash funds welcome?

Yes. If you would like to contribute as a group or give to our cash fund, those options are available on our registry—but please know that any gift is entirely optional.

Do you accept gifts shipped directly to your home?

When you order through our registry, you will have the option to ship items straight to our address, which is perfectly fine. If convenient, though, we’d appreciate gifts brought to the celebration—it’s a classic touch we’ve always loved.

Photography & Social Media

Are you having an unplugged ceremony?

Yes. We kindly request that all phones and cameras be silenced and put away during the ceremony so everyone can be fully present. Feel free to use your devices once the ceremony concludes—the reception will be device-friendly.

Can we take photos during the ceremony?

In keeping with our unplugged ceremony, we kindly ask that all guests refrain from taking photos. We have engaged a professional photographer to capture every moment and will gladly share the images afterward.
